This poster describes research on the design of start-up information systems in the Mechanical Business Unit (MBU) of the Mechanical Engineering Department in Politeknik Negeri Batam. The purpose of the information system is to facilitate the management of business units in the department of mechanical engineering. The design of information systems is focused on business processes in the production and operation, marketing and sales, administration and finance as well as human resources. The existence of the role of the Mechanical Business Unit is increasingly important, especially in preparing Politeknik Negeri Batam as PTN-BLU, which means Public University - Government's (implementation unit with a certain autonomy in financial management). The results of this study are expected to be particularly useful in optimizing resources management and funding for Politeknik Negeri Batam. The results of the business information system design will ensure that the Mechanical Engineering Departement's business units operate consistently, effectively, efficiently, systematically, and by established standards. Besides, the results of this design facilitate the department of mechanical engineering in the development of the mechanical engineering department's business unit to coordinate resources in the department of mechanical engineering. MBU has a variety of products and services that are integrated and in line with Three Pillars of Higher Education comprising Education, Research and Community Service (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi).
